US SAILING SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
Sponsored by the US Sailing Association; this award is to be presented annually to a sailor or sailors who have done the most to improve the sport of sailing at the International Sailing Club in the past year. This award typically reflects someone's unbridled enthusiasm and a willingness and eagerness to participate and improve their skills as a sailor. As well as sharing their knowledge and love for the sport with others. The recipients contribution may have been a single exemplary act. Or a more gradual consistent example on or off the water in whatever best exemplifies the finest traditions of our sport.

KAREN KENNEY MEMORIAL TROPHY / MOST IMPROVED SAILOR
This trophy is awarded annually to the most improved sailor among our ranks. Designed to symbolize Karen's zest and enthusiasm for the sport of sailing; this award recognizes her sailing accomplishments and her keen desire to see our sailing club grow and prosper. Before the club was founded in 1986; Karen Kenney participated in practically every course the sailing school had to offer. Her confidence and competence as a sailor grew with each passing year. She had a passion for the Champlain Valley even though she was a Canadian citizen. Assisting us at the Montreal Boat Show for many years provided her with a complimentary membership from 1986 to her unfortunate bout with cancer in the early nineties. We are very proud to remember her each Spring with the presentation of this award. We wish she was here to witness how much our little sailing club has grown through the years.

ROUND-THE-VALCOUR ISLAND RACE
A long distance race legendary for it's horrific weather!!!! Ominous squall lines, 30 knots of breeze, lightning, thunder, torrential downpours....you name it! "War Stories" abound and many members choose to think twice before participating. This race is on the Solings starting & finishing in inner Malletts Bay. Crews have the strategic option of rounding the island to the north or south. On the other end of the spectrum....light winds, sun burns & lack of facilities can also pose a problem. Race in it if you dare!!!!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT SERIES CHAMPION
A tradition since 1987; this series involves short course racing on the Solings. Teams vary every Wednesday and the Club's staff makes up the crew list. So anyone who shows up is guaranteed to get on a boat. Arrival time is 5:00pm and we generally have an average of 5 races and 7 Solings out racing. No racing experience is necessary to participate. Pay as you race is also an option for non-members if space allows. The fee is $20 per nite.

FALL SERIES CHAMPION
With daylight hours dwindling on Wednesday evenings; the Saturday AM Fall Frostbite Series commences in September. We race into October if mother nature allows and arrival time is 9:00am. Short course, round-the-buoys racing is the norm and the ISC staff makes up the crew list.
